“Gives Me Shivers” by Brandon Zahorsky. 32 Count, 4 Wall, Improver level dance to the music “Shivers” by Ed Sheeran. This is that dance that is showing up more and more as the floor split to other Shivers dances - the one that you will most likely see if you are on a club or event dance floor. Linda did a great teach, everyone seemed to do very well with it, and now you have your choice of whichever one you are most comfortable with.


We ended the day with a review of Chill Factor. This is a dance that several had watched/learned at the Scooter Lee workshop a couple weeks ago and after putting that much time into it - wanted to make sure they got the chance to keep dancing it. We will continue working on it!

New Teach:
Boot Scootin’ Boogie (aka Johnny O) by Ruth Elias. 46 Count, 4 Wall dance to the music “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”. Here’s some history of this dance. It was originally choreographed as “Johnny O” with 42 counts to the music “Johnny O” by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and to “Badly Bent” by the Tractors. In 1991, someone added 2 counts to the right vine, making it 6 counts; and 2 counts to the left vine, also making it 6 counts and called the new dance “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”.

Why they didn’t go ahead and add 2 more counts somewhere and make it a 48-count dance which would then phrase with the music is beyond me!!! We struggled and laughed and worked our way through it - and got it in the end!

This dance is one of the more popular versions in our area - out of the 55 dances written to the hit song by Brooks & Dunn.

This dance provided us with a new step - the coaster step as well as an introduction to “tags”. There is one tag at then end of wall 9. Everyone did a super job with this dance and nailed the tag!!! Well done!

Absolutely by Niels Poulsen. 32 Count, 4 Wall, Beginner dance to the music “Absolutely Everybody” by Pepper (Vanessa Amorosi). We learned the dance and danced it all the way through on the slowest speed I can make the DJ app play. Then we danced it all the way through again at mid-speed. And then, we danced it one more time at full speed! I think everyone really liked it - I KNOW everyone did really well with it! Great job!!!

We ended the class with a quick review and danced Be Bop EZ.

Keep It Simple by Maggie Gallagher. 32 Count, 4 Wall, Beginner dance to the music “Keep It Simple” by James Barker Band. This dance has an 8-count weaving pattern at the end of the dance that kept us busy for most of the class period - but by the end everyone was doing really well!!! Great job!

Teaching the lock step today was the first step toward moving into syncopated lock steps and shuffle steps. The scissor step is a first step toward moving into syncopated scissor steps and side-rock-crosses. We will continue this again next week.

We said “Happy Summer” to one... another class or two and we’ll be saying it to more. It won’t be long and we’re going to be down to the “summer crew”!
